Submissions
Please note our new submission form, which can be found at the bottom of this page. We no longer accept submissions by email.
Also include 1-4 lines of biography and/or a personal website link that will be published with your piece if it is accepted (this is optional). Please make sure that the short bios are written in third person – in other words, exactly how you would want them to appear on the site. This helps us out a lot.
If your story is selected for publication, you will be notified by email. Note that we format stories for easy readability, and that selected stories will be edited for grammar and mechanics before they are uploaded to the site. You will, of course, be emailed if we have questions or need to make any more significant changes.
At this time, there is no financial compensation for pieces submitted to The Four-Cornered Universe.
To get a better understanding of the kinds of styles and genres we like reading, browse through our published pieces and take a look at our FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for this and other common questions. If you still have concerns you may email us before submitting.
Thanks and we look forward to reading your work!
Short Stories
If your story is between 500 and 8000 words, please submit to this category.
Serial Fiction
We will publish stories and/or novels of AT LEAST 8000 words (total) that can be broken into 3 or more chapters/parts for publication in three consecutive issues of the magazine.
Please submit a story synopsis by email with the first two or three ‘episodes’ of your story attached.
Poetry
All themes and styles are acceptable with the exception of “prose poetry”. We do publish this, but it’s often mislabeled and more appropriate for the “Essays and Prose” section.
Also, no song lyrics please, unless the poetic quality is superior to the song itself. If it doesn’t sound like a poem without the music, we’re probably not interested.
Essays
Anything from satire to an A+ essay for a history class is acceptable, but it would be ideal if the submission is something other people would choose to read for fun.
Use the following form to send in your submissions. Please send each individual story, poem, or essay as a separate form entry.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
