Shopping List

The old and strangely withered
can be found in aisle 5 or 9,
slowly hunting down
precious ointments and relief
for the small parts of themselves
that they choose to no longer recognize
in any hanging mirror.
After years of searching
the wrong aisles,
they hope their souls,
still blooming in years,
are snug and fit
next to their shrinking hearts
when they finally
stop trying.
